    Noble Delta Women for Peace & Development (NDWPD) Int’l

    Noble Delta Women for Peace & Development Int’l (NDWPD) formerly Niger Delta Women’s Movement for Peace & Development (NDWPD) is a women NonGovernmental Organization in Special Consultative Status with the United Nations ECOSOC, and accredited to United Nations Environment Assembly and the Green Climate Fund based in Delta State with a vision to empower the Niger Delta Women and the most vulnerable people in the region and for the promotion and realization of their rights.

    When was our organization formed?

    Who started the organization and why?

    NDWPD was founded by Amb. Caroline Usikpedo Omoniye and a group of women in Lagos. Touched by the high rate of poverty level of women in the Niger Delta and her vision for Women’s Rights, Empowerment and Peacemaking using training and capacity building as development tools, she called on women from all states of the Niger Delta to join hands in the pursuit of Emancipation of the rural women.

    Our Work

    In which region(s) does our organization work? NDWPD works at selected rural areas in the Niger Delta Region (nine states), Nigeria and in Collaboration with Partner organizations in Africa Region and International Space. Working towards women’s Rights, Gender Equality, economic empowerment, capacity building and Sustainable development.

    NDWPD TRANSITIONS!

    After 15 Years of our existence as PART OF THE women’s movement, we are transitioning from a “Women’s Association” into a full LEGAL Institution and Non-Governmental Organization (NGO).

    The Niger Delta Women’s Movement for Peace and Development (NDWPD) will now be known and called THE NOBLE DELTA WOMEN FOR PEACE AND DEVELOPMENT INTERNATIONAL (NDWPD INT’L).

    OUR STORY!

    NDWPD was founded by Amb. Caroline Usikpedo and a group of women in Lagos.

    A NEW CHILD WAS BORN!!!!!!

    The Niger Delta Women’s movement for Peace and Hope (NDWPH) started at the slums at a friend’s backyard in Ajegunle in Lagos, Nigeria.

    REMEMBERING KEEPS Our memory ALIVE OF the day we held the first meeting and the rain fell, Ajegunle flooded and how we held our shoes at IN our hands and SWAM out of the black dirty water.

    IT WAS Then we said, “We will do it”.

     

    We looked at moving beyond and moving from Hope to Development, and the Women’s movement changed its name to the Niger Delta Women’s movement for Peace and Development (NDWPD) in 2007.

     

    WHAT HAS ENCOURAGED US!!!!!!!

    We stood by the Words of John C. Maxwell which says ….

    The best option in Life is when you chose to SUFFER NOW AND ENJOY LATER…

    This was our word of encouragement that has made us to see this day to the Glory of God.

     

    NOW IS THE TIME!!!!!!!!

    Noble Delta Women for Peace and Development International (NDWPD Int’l) is the new face of the organization for Women Empowerment and Sustainable Development in Niger Delta, Nigeria.

     

    We have repositioned with major changes below…

    – Duly Registered With Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) as Noble Delta Women for Peace and Development International.

     

    – National President is now Executive Director

     

    – Vibrant Board of Trustees with a complete gender balance and inclusive of all

     

    – We have relocated our Head Office and the Women Resource Centre to the Capital City of Asaba in Delta State, Nigeria

     

    – Refined and Innovative Skills Development Center for women and youth

     

    – Our Transition period will be 12 months

    All our Bankers and Account details remains UNTIL we finally change documentations

    All partners and Agencies will be duly notified

    All our Social media Accounts (Email, Facebook, Twitter e.t.c ) remains

    All former documents remain valid till March, 2020

    Our deep and profound Gratitude to all NDWPD members for their time and passion, and Partners who have supported a charity that was still growing till maturity.

     

    We warmly praise the women of the NDWPD who gave time and money to the cause, our grassroots women, Local and Global members, for their staunch support, untiring labor through rain and sunshine in rallying funds and institutional support for the organizations charity projects and the 7 point objectives of our Grassroots women movement.

     

    While thanking you, we are optimistic that a great partnership is possible.

    With the Name change WE HONOR THE NOBLE, RURAL WOMAN… and we look forward to more collaborations and engagements.

    WHAT HAPPENED

    HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS!!

    She got justice through the office of the public defender with support of the Lagos state Governor; Sen. Ahmed Bola Tinubu in 2005, with her employer whom she saw violated workers rights in the company.

     

    VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN AND GIRLS!!!

    She suffered maltreatment in the name of A mother in-law, brother in-laws, and sister in-laws but also got justice through the office of then Superior Officer Administration of the Nigerian Army (SO 1A) and the Officer in-charge –Nigerian Military Police (OC-MP) Depot, NA Zaria, Kaduna State, Nigeria.

     

    SHE HAD A VISION!!!!

    Her vision for the Niger- Delta region was to work with women in the region to empower and catalyze them to reach their full potentials and growth.

     

    THE JOURNEY!!!!!

    Touched by the high rate of poverty level of women in the Niger Delta and her vision for Women’s Rights and Empowerment, Peacemaking, Gender Equality and Women Inclusion in Decision making using training and capacity building as development tools, she called on women from all states of the Niger Delta to join hands in the pursuit of Emancipation of the rural women.

    VISION

    The vision of NDWPD is to see A Society that respects Women Human rights, Gender Equality, Women Empowerment, Peace and Free of Gender Based Violence. We envision a world for women to live in where there is Social and Environmental Justice, Gender Equality and respect for women’s human rights.

    MISSION

    Our mission is to promote enduring peace and Women’s rights mobilization in the Niger Delta, focusing on women empowerment, conflict mediation, peace building, gender and climate change issues, girl-child education, ecological imperatives, HIV/AIDS prevention, caring for orphans and vulnerable children. To promote economic and social advancement of the women, to support women’s rights and gender equality for women and People in the rural areas of the Niger Delta region.

    It is our belief that by investing in women and girls we invest in the future and If women are empowered with skills, information, sustainable livelihoods, opportunities to fulfill their potential, plus the capacity and space to make transformatory choices, then we will have vibrant, healthy and inclusive communities free of Gender Based Violence in the Niger Delta.

    ORGANIZATION OBJECTIVES

    1. To promote enduring peace and cooperation in the Niger Delta and to alleviate the hardship of children, their families, rural communities & schools.
    2. To harness the wisdom of women to eliminate any form of violence to create justice among all by providing communities with skills and vocations.
    3. To promote women empowerment that encouraged women to get actively involved in decision making process at all level.
    4. To support human rights, ecological imperatives and sustainable development and cooperate with organizations (Local & International) to support technical knowledge and skills.
    5. To foster educational, economic and social advancement of the Niger Delta women and improving the vulnerable girls and women in rural communities by creating jobs for them.
    6. To identify with the problems and progress of the most vulnerable women and people in the Niger Delta.
    7. To provide the children in orphanages and destitute homes with food, clothes, vaccinations/ medical care, books and uniforms, education scholarships and household equipment.
