    Delta State. And also participated as a Climate Witnesses from the Niger Delta at the UNFCCC Copenhagen Summit on Climate Change in December 2009, Durban South Africa 2011 and to RIO+20 Conference in Brazil 2012.

    In October, 2009, the NDWPD formally opened the Niger Delta Women resource centre at Ughelli, Delta State which is leased for 9 years and fully equipped for the training of women / Youth in vocations and skills Like ICT /Computer, Tailoring, Catering and Home Mgt., Hair and Beauty, and Production of Soaps and Detergents, as a self help project of the organization.

    • NDWPD was at the Beijing + 15 Platform for Action Review and the 54th Session of the Commission on the status of women in New York, where we presented the Climate Justice tribunals the 3rd of March, 2010.
    • Due to our commitment to women’s’ rights and poverty, NDWPD was at the 2010 UN MDG Review Summit in New York as part of the Feminist Task Force GCAP team where we presented at the civil society partnership events, Day of Dialogue on Women and the MDGs” including 2 panels: on Maternal and Child Health in the Niger Delta Nigeria and the impact of Climate Change on local rural women of the Niger Delta.
    • Also, we were part of the Civil G20 Summit in Seoul, South Korea 2010 and most recently at the Africa Regional Preparatory Conference for Rio+20, 20 – 25, October 2011, Addis Ababa as major group and the 3rd International Conference on Biofuel for Africa in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.

    Also, at the UN church centre, the president presented a paper on HIV/AIDS, Discrimination and Stigmatization in the Niger Delta, followed by award ceremony by the Sisters to Sisters International. Part of the event was the Artisan Fair, where NDWPD displayed locally made beads made by rural women in the Niger Delta.

    In June 2009, NDWPD was appointed the African Coordinators of Sophia 2010 World Conference to be held in Bulgaria, now Ways Women Lead.

    The year 2009 Stand Up and Take Action Campaign received special participation as the Executive Chairman of the DESOPDEC, Chief Dr. Wellington Okrika and his Cabinet stand up and take action against poverty to break the Guinness World record which gave a boost not only to the NDWPD but to Nigeria as a whole.

    In October 2009, NDWPD marked the Sophia Day in conjunction with the United Nations Day, the International Day of Climate Action, the Earth Charter and the Formal opening of the Niger Delta Women Resource Center.

    Climate Justice Tribunal
    November 12 -13, 2009, NDWPD facilitated two climate justice tribunals and poverty hearings ahead of the Copenhagen Climate summit. Niger Delta Women and Climate Justice Tribunals: The Effect of Climate Change on women in Jesse, Delta State. Case of the Jesse Fire Inferno 1998 and the Water management in Odi Bayelsa State.

    In December 2009, the NDWPD join her partners from other part of the world to present the outcomes of the Climates Justices Hearing as a Climate witness from the Niger Delta, Nigeria.

    • Towards 2007 Elections: December, 18, 2006 Delta State.
    • In September 2007, NDWPD organized a training workshop for its members on rural women Entrepreneurship Development.
    • In November 2, 2007, NDWPD implemented its first project at the Leper colony in Delta and Bayelsa States. Theme: Support Lepers and their Children, Theme: The Children are Crying, theLepers are Handicapped, Lend them a Hand. Mbiama, Bayelsa State, Nigeria.
    • In December 2007, the NDWPD rounded up the years program with the provision of food stuffs to the most vulnerable women across the rural areas of Delta State.

    NDWPD opened her year 2008 programs in April with the launch of the support for orphans and vulnerable children around you. It is her self help project implemented at the rural areas of Isoko and Ijaw, Delta State.

    The organization facilitated micro credit loan to women and less privileges. A total number of 80 women received micro credit loan in June and December, 2008.

    In partnership with the ICWECD, the NDWPD had an advocacy and social mobilization campaign at rural communities in Isoko North LGA on rule malaria project to eradicate mosquitoes and malaria in Delta State. July 2008 to March, 2009.

    NDWPD in collaboration with the Global Call to Action Against Poverty (GCAP) and the United Nations Millennium Campaign participated in the year 2008 Stand Up and Take Action (SUTA) against poverty events, 17th -19th October, 2008 -2012 to mobilize and create awareness on the millennium development goals and the end poverty 2015 deadline.
